EU Reg. 267/2012. Iran moving towards the 24 of November deadline.

IRAN is a growing force in the world arena and will play a strategic role in future issues of the Middle East. Over and above this, the country, in terms of information technology, is amongst some of the best in the world, infrastructures are in full expansion and the Rouhani government is more than willing to enter into the know-how market and welcomes foreign investment. At the moment, in light of the 24th of November deadline, there is frenetic action by both businesses and diplomats to evaluate decisions regarding the EU Reg. 267/2012 which regulates economic transactions EU/IRAN, dual-use goods and the subjects listed under art. 23. Meanwhile, US and European lobbies are putting pressure on negotiators for more freedom in doing business with Iran. Italy has good relations with Iran, in fact amongst some of the best in Europe. It is certainly a historical time of transition. For more information on the possibility of exporting Made in EU to Iran, http://www.exportiran.it/eng_index.html.

Operating in Italy

Operating in Italy

Doing business and navigating the Italian business jungle Italian is objectively difficult. It is difficult for Italian operators, let alone a foreign operator. Let us have a look at some of the critical points of the Italian system. Whatever the nature of the business you are wanting to develop, in Italy it is essential to be assisted by a team of Italian professionals, first and foremost a qualified law firm. The first criticism of the Italian system is the excessive number of laws, which at times are also partly in opposition to one another, like a tangled skein. We need therefore, above all to understand , what laws apply to our needs; not to mention the European legislation that is little known by many professionals and Italian Judges.
The second issue is Italian bureaucracy, which is slow and has the ability to complicate even simple things. The third criticism is the Italian justice system with its serious inefficiencies and which is time-consuming, with its inability to give short term rulings; imagine the difficulties companies have in recovering debts when those that owe them money are playing this system. The criticism brought about by having to tread carefully when entering into a dispute and avoiding controversy when requiring the assistance of a courts (a current example, the attempt by Etihad to establish a partnership with Alitalia). Fourth criticism is the criminality that could possibly harm your company’s assets, including common crime, organized crime, especially in some regions of Italy, and corrupt public administration that make illegal demands for money or other benefits.
Of course, Italy is unique and extraordinary in many aspects, however, it is to be “tasted” with due caution.
An Italian Law Firm – with experience and knowledge of the Italian system – is the right tool to have To “accompany” your company by means of qualified support to the economic success you envisage for your project and to avoid pitfalls with considerable loss of money.

CASH&CARRY – “Pay and receive your goods”. The difficulty of recovering debt in Italy and the consequences.

CASH&CARRY – “Pay and receive your goods”. The difficulty of recovering debt in Italy and the consequences.

In the current context of severe economic crisis in Italy and the negative experiences suffered by traders from abroad to recover their debt claims, trade relations have changed between Italy and the rest of the world in recent years. Good trade relations always requires reliability, certainty and promptness. Italy does not offer sufficient protection in this regard. The highly negative environment is manifested through: inefficiencies in the system and bureaucracy; the inability of the justice system (civil and criminal) to respond in the short to medium term, strong information asymmetries and a lack of fair competition; deeply rooted and widespread corruption in all areas of public administration; reluctance on the part of banking establishments to provide credit to companies/families; petty and organized crime. In this context , all operators – from small family businesses to large professional enterprises – all suffering more or less the same economic constraints – trade relations have been pervaded by mutual distrust . Primarily the state is slow to pay up followed by the private concerns. This has resultantly lead to the philosophy of the cash & carry, in the sense that many businesses and professionals (probably the vast majority) deliver goods and services in Italy only upon payment. After all, this is the only way to ensure and safeguard their business and commercial survival in Italy. Therefore a prudent business practice would be to know the client or supplier with whom you intend to do business, prior to goods changing hands, in order to verify their financial liquidity and reliability and to put in place suitable contracts to avoid costly and lengthy litigation.

Annino Law Firm offers a full service to protect and promote foreign companies wishing to operate in Italy, as well as, those already trading in Italy. We offer feasibility studies, pre-screening of client reliability, trade and employment contracts, registration of companies, trademarks and brands in Italy, the recovery of debts and translation of documentation. The Atlas of Economic Complexity

The Atlas of Economic Complexity

Researchers from the American Harvard and MIT universities (Hidalgo & Hausmann) concluded a study on economic complexity in 2009 and came up with “The Atlas Of Economic Complexity”. The atlas analyzes the foreign trade of 128 countries and sets up an economic growth ranking which is based on the so called Economic Complexity Index (ECI). The basis for the analysis is the quantity and complexity of exported goods and the frequency of exports. Economy is a complex adaptive system and therefore one cannot sum up an economy based on a single number such as Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
Hidalgo and Hausmann propose the concept of ECI not only as a descriptive measure of an economy but also as a predictive tool for economic growth. According to the statistical models they presented the ECI is a more accurate predictor of GDP per capita growth than traditional measures of governance and competitiveness. The networks of industries, the mutual utilization and development of their products as well as increasing their complexity can substantially contribute to social welfare in a country.

2014. Made in Italy embarks in IRAN

2014. Made in Italy embarks in IRAN

2014 presents new challenges and opportunities. The Law Firm Annino has started an ambitious project following on from the historic agreement reached between Iran and the USA in November 2013. We believe that Iran under the leadership of Hassan Rowhani can unlock the potential of the Country and that they will open up to the world and let their historical and cultural wealth be appreciated. From 2013, we started “building” relationships of cooperation and trust with Iranian partners. Now starts the new challenge with the ambitious goal of taking businesses, that do honor to the concept of Made in Italy to Iran. We are looking for forward-thinking and honest Italian entrepreneurs who want to enter the Iranian market, creating a local representation and a commercial network. We offer all the necessary support. For more information and to join the Italian delegation that will be going to Tehran, visit our site www.exportiran.it

Annino Law Firm at Armani

Annino Law Firm at Armani

An elegant occassion dedicated to Italian fashion was hosted in Rome on Wednesday the 4th of December the Emporium Armani . Despite the negative economic context that exists in Italy, the Italian fashion industry continues to dominate the domestic and international markets, with significant maintenance of holdings in luxury brands with interesting results on the export side. At the same time, one has to highlight the negative aspect of Italian high fashion companies passing into foreign hands. The Law Firm Annino – has always been committed to supporting and assisting Italian companies in their dramatic ” clashes” with the Italian bureaucracy and illegal attempts to attack assets of the company – we had the pleasure to attend the event with a delegation composed of lawyers Gianfranco Annino, Paola Isabella and Guido Genovese, we would like to thank the promoter of the evening as well as fashion bloggers  Alessandra Airò  of  littlesnobthing.it  for the kind invite.

Historic agreement Iran – Usa

Historic agreement Iran – Usa

An historic agreement has been reached between Iran and the United States. Finally a first pact that extends the relations between the two countries and that shortly will hopefully lead to the end of the embargo against Iran, which has been cause of much suffering to the Iranians. The agreement will allow Iran to excercise their great economic and cultural potential. Iran must open its doors to the West, abandoning their strong sense of anti-Americanism, the West should open up to Iran without prejudice and with loyalty, even Israel should reach out and become a protagonist in this agreement playing a key role in stabilising relationships. Moreover, this historic agreement may have a positive impact on the Gulf Coast Countries (GCC) being strategically nestled between Iraq and the west. This situation is a contrast to the controversial situations that still exist in Afghanistan and Pakistan. A new story yet to be written from here on.
